Are you also struggling to take care of your lawn? Are you also worried about the annual expenses of mowing lawns, pest control, watering, etc., which cost up to $1,000? Come and read this article about the experience of updating the garden shared by our American customers!

Ever since I bought a house, the most annoying thing for me has been dealing with the worn-out grass! Every summer, it's a daily routine of watering, insect removal every three days, and my dog playing in the yard with a small fountain, turning the area yellow beneath it. After rain, the dog ends up covered in mud. It's been a constant frustration. Finally, I made up my mind to switch to artificial grass.

For those considering artificial grass, many find comfort in the idea that it saves money. But let me tell you, the cost of switching to artificial grass might be more than maintaining a real lawn for twenty years. In my case, mowing every ten days costs $40 each time, monthly fertilization and insect removal cost $15, and water bills are around $50. In Boston, this is needed for about six months a year, totaling around $1,000 annually. Is it really worth it? Those who switch to artificial grass have truly reached their breaking point.

First, I made a plan based on my home's situation because I didn't want a generic lawn. You can see in pictures 2, 3, and 4 the sorry state of the grass in winter. The front yard didn't need much attention-just switch the real grass with artificial. For the backyard, I wanted half grass for my dog to play on and half white pebbles to give it a Zen look, along with three flower beds where I moved my existing climbing roses. I then drew a sketch as shown in picture 5.

Next was finding a construction team, and I contacted three. The first was a large American company I found on Google, with over 200 branches nationwide. They quoted $20,000, including taxes, for the best grass suitable for a dog lawn. The second, recommended by a friend, was a Chinese company quoting $40,000, but they only accepted cash and were involved in tax evasion. Obviously, I refused because I needed proper receipts for tax purposes. The third was a small Vietnamese company quoting $50,000 plus taxes. Seriously, Chinese and Vietnamese teams, who do you think you are? I won't even mention whether you have licenses or not; your prices are outrageous! I chose the American company without hesitation because they offered a ten-year warranty on both labor and the lawn. The other two only provided warranty for the grass, not the labor.

Then came the selection of pebbles and the construction date. It couldn't be too cold, as freezing would halt the work. So, we scheduled the construction around October 20. Pebbles turned out to be a challenge; most stones were sharp and could hurt the dog's feet. I reluctantly opted for the expensive type shown in picture 6, costing more than ten times the previous stones. I ended up spending an extra $2,000, but the company showed me the stone procurement receipts, and I knew exactly what I was paying for.
